Brandt Foundation Makes Six Grants

Springfield, Illinois (9 December 2016) – The BRANDT Foundation continued its effort of good works, awarding six grants to charitable organizations at its regularly-scheduled December meeting.

The December 2016 grantees, all 501(c)3 organizations in good standing for the past three years, include a range of organizations with close ties to the Ag community:

  • The California Foundation for Ag in the Classroom
  • The Illinois 4-H Foundation
  • The Illinois FFA Alumni Association
  • The National Biodiesel Foundation
  • The Progressive Agriculture Foundation
  • ValleyPBS’ Valley’s Gold Education through Agriculture

“The BRANDT family continues to grow through the active participation of The BRANDT Foundation,” said Rick Brandt, President & CEO of BRANDT. “This session, we funded some organizations that are new to us, like the California Foundation for Ag in the Classroom and the National Biodiesel Foundation, while continuing to fund cornerstone Ag organizations like the Illinois 4-H Foundation, the Illinois FFA Alumni Association, PBS and the Progressive Ag Foundation.”

All the grants have agriculture connections. This is the third year, for example, that the BRANDT Foundation funded the Progressive Agriculture Foundation. The Progressive Ag Foundation uses its grant to help pay for Safety Days across the nation. Their mission is provide education, training and resources to make farm, ranch and rural life safer and healthier. Thousands of kids have gone through the Safety Day program, reducing farm injuries and deaths.

The mission of The BRANDT Foundation is “to provide meaningful assistance and support to the communities, farms and families where BRANDT has facilities.”

The BRANDT Foundation is a private foundation, funded through donations from BRANDT Consolidated, Inc. and BRANDT employees. This past September The Foundation hosted a fundraising event in connection with a visit from Dale Earnhardt Jr. where more than $12,000 was raised. All funds raised will be granted by the Foundation.

Brandt Foundation Makes Three Grants

Springfield, Illinois (22 August 2016) – The BRANDT Foundation awarded three grants to charitable organizations at its regularly-scheduled August meeting.

The August 2016 grantees, all 501(c)3 organizations in good standing for the past three years, include:

  • The Central Illinois Foodbank, Inc.
  • The Hope Institute for Children & Families
  • The Growing Together program at the Pleasant Hill Village of Girard, IL

“We’ve funded some interesting projects this session,” said Rick Brandt, President & CEO of BRANDT. “For example, the project for the Hope Institute is to help them raise their garden beds to a higher level to be more accessible for wheelchair-bound youth. Think about that. That little project will open up a whole new understanding of food production to kids who were otherwise shut out.”

The other grants also have an agriculture connection. The Central Illinois Foodbank will use its grant to establish mobile food distribution centers in parking lots in rural areas. Pleasant Hill Village will use the grant to improve the equipment used in its garden so that more residents can participate in food production.

The mission of The BRANDT Foundation is “to provide meaningful assistance and support to the communities, farms and families where BRANDT has facilities.”
