Springfield, Illinois (September, 2024) – At its most recent semi-annual board meeting, The BRANDT Foundation awarded grants to more organizations and projects than ever before in a single round of funding. These awards reflect the Foundation’s mission to fight food insecurity, promote agricultural education, and reduce food waste while supporting communities where BRANDT and its sister companies operate.
Farm Rescue – Supporting “Helping Farm Families in Crisis,” which delivers hands-on volunteer labor to farmers and ranchers facing illness, injury, or natural disaster.
Casa de Peregrinos, Inc. – Expanding its Food Rescue Program, which diverts over 1 million pounds of safe, edible food from landfills each year to feed families across Doña Ana County, NM.
Global Philanthropy Partnership (Illinois Agri-Food Alliance) – Growing the AGNITOR initiative, which connects students—especially from underserved communities—with career pathways in agriculture, food, and natural resources.
Progressive Agriculture Foundation – Advancing the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program, the largest rural safety and health education effort in North America, equipping children and families with critical knowledge and practices.
Second Helpings – Strengthening and expanding Food Rescue Operations in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, rescuing more than 3 million pounds of food annually and distributing it to over 55 partner agencies.
Expanding Food Insecurity Support
In addition to these major awards, the Foundation provided grants to 15 food insecurity organizations across the country, including food banks, pantries, and meal programs. From Illinois to Florida to Washington State, these smaller grants help ensure that families in need receive consistent access to food and nourishment.
Building a Lasting Impact
With this record-setting round of giving, The BRANDT Foundation reaffirms its commitment to advancing the well-being of communities, organizations, and families. By supporting a wide range of projects, from farm crisis relief and agricultural education to food rescue and hunger relief, the Foundation continues to expand its reach and create lasting, positive impact.
